DALLAS, Texas– Two individuals were arrested in North Texas for allegedly selling counterfeit sports memorabilia, according to local authorities.

The operation targeted sports fans seeking authentic collectibles. The seized items included jerseys, helmets, and footballs that were fraudulently branded as autographed by professional athletes.

The investigation began after several consumers filed complaints about the authenticity of the items purchased online.

The suspects, a man and a woman, were conducting business through various online platforms.

They listed items with detailed descriptions and images to lure potential buyers. The listings appeared credible, featuring endorsements and certificates of authenticity. However, experts later deemed these certificates as fabricated.

The North Texas residents involved in this scheme are now facing charges related to fraud and forgery.

Legal proceedings are expected to follow as the case is built against them. If convicted, they could face substantial fines and potentially lengthy prison sentences.
