Stafford hosted an Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) cultural celebration on May 8 as part of programming tied to America’s upcoming 250th anniversary in 2026, bringing together community members, performers, and civic leaders for an evening focused on cultural exchange.
The event, “Together We Shine: An AAPI Multicultural Celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary,” was organized by the City of Stafford in partnership with the Asia Society Texas Center and the Asian Chamber of Commerce.

The program featured music, dance, and cultural performances representing various Asian American and Pacific Islander traditions. A pre-show reception allowed attendees to gather before the main stage performances began.
Dignitaries and community leaders attended the event, including Indian Consul General D.C. Manjunath, reflecting the city’s engagement with international and diaspora communities.
A raffle sponsored by the Asian Chamber of Commerce offered attendees a chance to win round-trip airline tickets to cities including Tokyo, Taipei, Manila, and Singapore, adding a participatory element to the evening.

“Grateful to be part of this inaugural celebration. Thank you to City Council and Mayor Pro Tem Alice Chen. Congratulations on a successful event,” said Aileen Ligot-Dizon, State President of the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce – Texas.
Organizers said the celebration highlighted the contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities in Texas while connecting local cultural efforts to national preparations for the 250th anniversary of the United States.
