Democratic U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico and Republican candidate Ken Paxton agreed Saturday that the federal gas tax should be suspended, although Paxton called for permanently eliminating the tax while Talarico proposed a temporary suspension.

Lawyer Ernesto Francisco Jr. has asked the Supreme Court to nullify the Senate Impeachment Court’s Sept. 23, 2026 ruling that changed the voting threshold for convicting Vice President Sara Duterte, arguing that the Senate cannot alter a requirement set in the 1987 Constitution.
