A federal judge has paused a lawsuit from the Republican Party of Texas seeking to limit its primary elections to voters registered with the party, keeping the case on hold through the next Texas legislative session.

The Supreme Court has acquitted a man convicted of violating the election liquor ban, ruling that signs of intoxication and other circumstantial evidence did not prove beyond reasonable doubt that he drank alcohol during the prohibited period.
