Harris County commissioners approved a $3.1 billion budget Thursday and finalized a 7.6% increase in the county’s property tax rate for the 2027 fiscal year.

The Supreme Court has acquitted a man convicted of violating the election liquor ban, ruling that signs of intoxication and other circumstantial evidence did not prove beyond reasonable doubt that he drank alcohol during the prohibited period.
