The Houston Police Department logged 1,252 incidents involving stolen tires, wheels and rims during the first six months of 2026, with 10 ZIP codes accounting for about 38% of reported motor vehicle parts and accessory thefts.

The Supreme Court has ruled that an affidavit of desistance from a victim of exploitation cannot serve as grounds to dismiss a human trafficking case, saying such statements can result from coercion, pressure or undue influence.
