Prime Video released a teaser for “Elle,” a prequel series to the 2001 film “Legally Blonde,” ahead of its July 1 premiere.
The series follows Elle Woods, played by Lexi Minetree, before the events of the original film. In the teaser, Elle’s parents, Eva and Wyatt, portrayed by June Diane Raphael and Tom Everett Scott, inform her that their family will move from Bel-Air to Seattle for two years following her birthday celebration.
Set in 1995, the series shows Elle adjusting to life in a new high school in Seattle. The official logline states that the story explores her experiences with friendships, romance and family relationships as she develops into the character introduced in “Legally Blonde.”
The cast includes Jacob Moskovitz, Gabrielle Policano, Chandler Kinney, Zac Looker, Amy Pietz, Jessica Belkin, Danielle Chand, Matt Oberg, Chloe Wepper, Logan Shroyer, Sharon Taylor, David Burtka, Brad Harder, Kayla Maisonet, Lisa Yamada and James Van Der Beek.
Reese Witherspoon, who portrayed Elle Woods in the original films, serves as an executive producer of the series. In a January 2026 statement, Witherspoon said Lexi Minetree’s portrayal of Elle reflected the themes of kindness, authenticity and self-confidence associated with the franchise.
“Elle” premieres July 1 on Prime Video.
