SEOUL, South Korea — K-pop star Heeseung is leaving Enhypen after “in-depth discussions” about the group’s future, with Belift Lab confirming the decision on Tuesday, March 10. The label announced that Enhypen will continue as a six-member group.

“Heeseung will be parting ways with Enhypen, and [they] will continue official activities henceforth as a group of six members,” Belift said in a statement. The label added that the decision was reached after extensive deliberation and aimed to respect Heeseung’s individual musical vision.

Belift acknowledged that the news might be a lot for fans, known as Engene, to process, while revealing that Heeseung is preparing for a solo album, though details are still under wraps.

In a handwritten letter on Weverse, Heeseung expressed gratitude to his fans and fellow members, reflecting on the six years he spent with the group.

“Thanks to the members who shared countless emotions and Engenes who always filled the space in my heart. I felt that I wasn’t able to reach my dream back then, but I was able to fulfill it step by step,” he wrote. “This is one of the most shining moments that I will never forget in the future. I want to support Enhypen more than anyone else.”

Heeseung explained that his departure followed discussions with Belift and was in line with the company’s suggested direction for his solo pursuits.

“I’ve spent a lot of time hoping to show [my personal work] with Engene. There are a lot of things I want to show you all, but I don’t want to put my greed ahead of the team,” he said. “I will work hard to meet you again as soon as possible with a better appearance.”

The six-member lineup moving forward will consist of Jungwon, Jay, Jake, Ni-ki, Sunghoon, and Sunoo. Heeseung had been the main vocalist and center of the group since their formation through the survival show I-Land and their official debut in 2020.
