MANILA — Singer-actress Yeng Constantino, 37, said Monday that she is not ready to become a mother as she continues to focus on supporting her family.
Constantino discussed her plans for motherhood during an interview on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Sept. 7. Host Boy Abunda asked whether she was ready to become a mother, prompting her to pause before answering, “Marami pa po akong obligasyon.”
Abunda then asked whether having a child remains outside her current plans.
“Opo,” Constantino replied.
Constantino said her mother died five years ago and left her with a responsibility to look after her siblings and father.
“Nung bago po mamatay si Mama, ang talagang binilin po sa akin ay mga kapatid ko at si Papa,” she said.
Constantino said she discussed the responsibility with her husband, Yan Asuncion, and connected her family’s circumstances with the blessings they have received.
She also said she and Asuncion have been supporting her older sister, who recently received a cancer diagnosis.
Constantino said she remains open to having a child if she believes it is God’s will, but she currently feels fulfilled helping her family.
“I think kung meron man, kung will ni Lord, kung may mangyari po, okay. Pero right now, I’m just so happy na ako po ‘yung naka-assign sa family ko to help them,” she said.
Constantino and Asuncion married in February 2015 and renewed their wedding vows on their 10th anniversary in 2025.
