AUSTIN, Texas — The Tesla Cybercab made its public debut on the streets of Austin during the South by Southwest, offering a first look at the fully autonomous, purpose-built ride-sharing vehicle. Reviewers from Out of Spec Reviews shared impressions of the pre-production model, which Tesla suggests could enter production at its local Gigafactory Austin as early as April 2026.
The Cybercab eliminates traditional controls like the steering wheel and pedals, focusing entirely on passenger comfort. Reviewers described the interior as “absolutely stellar” and “insane” for legroom, comfortably accommodating passengers up to 6’4″ tall. A massive, centered display serves as the cabin hub, and the open layout provides an unprecedented sense of space.
Designed for efficiency and durability, the cabin lacks door pockets or cubbies to reduce lost items. Tesla’s camera-based Full Self-Driving suite handles navigation without the bulky sensors commonly seen on other autonomous vehicles.
Despite compact dimensions as a two-seater, the Cybercab offers an extensive rear trunk, soft suspension for a smooth ride, and butterfly doors that automatically open and close. USB-C ports and other cabin controls are integrated into the central touchscreen, keeping surfaces clean.
While wireless charging is planned for future fleet models, this pre-production unit features a NACS charging port compatible with the existing Supercharger network. Technical details such as battery size and range remain undisclosed.
Early impressions suggest the Cybercab could redefine urban ride-sharing with its spacious, comfort-first design and fully autonomous operation.
