WASHINGTON — McDonald’s and Netflix are launching a limited-time Happy Meal promotion tied to the animated series “Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85,” according to a company announcement.

The promotion begins rolling out in the United States on May 5 and includes a themed Happy Meal box, a collectible toy and a QR code that links to a digital game based on the franchise.

McDonald’s said the game is set in Hawkins, Indiana, and places players in a storyline involving creatures that overrun a McDonald’s restaurant. Players interact with characters including Dustin as they attempt to resolve the crisis in the game environment.

The companies said the collaboration is designed to reflect the “Stranger Things” universe, which features characters and settings from the original series. The animated project is based on the television franchise that concluded its run in 2025 after five seasons.

McDonald’s said the promotion will expand to additional global markets throughout the spring and summer.
