MANILA, Philippines — KATSEYE leader Sophia Laforteza was reportedly spotted with rumored boyfriend Leon Barretto at Disneyland amid her temporary break from the global girl group.
A photo circulating online showed Laforteza and Barretto seated together on the Space Mountain ride at Disneyland’s Tomorrowland. A park guest shared the photo in a Facebook group and said it was taken on Aug. 16.
The guest said Laforteza interacted warmly with her daughters after they met the singer while waiting in line.
However, some social media users questioned the reported date of the photo after noticing that Barretto had shared a Disneyland photo on Instagram on July 22 while wearing what appeared to be the same shirt.
The actual date of the circulating photo has not been independently verified, and Laforteza and Barretto have not commented on it.
The reported sighting came less than two weeks after Laforteza announced that she would temporarily step away from KATSEYE activities to focus on her mental health and well-being.
HYBE and Geffen Records announced on Aug. 7 that medical professionals had advised Laforteza to take an extended period of rest. Her condition is expected to be reassessed in September.
Laforteza told fans that she found the decision difficult but recognized the importance of prioritizing her health.
Laforteza became KATSEYE’s leader after finishing first in the 2023 reality competition “The Debut: Dream Academy,” where she represented the Philippines. The group debuted in 2024 and gained international recognition through songs such as “Touch,” “Gnarly” and “Gabriela.”
Laforteza and Barretto have been linked romantically for years, although neither has publicly confirmed a relationship. The two have known each other since childhood and attended prom together in 2020.
Dating rumors intensified in January after Barretto shared photos from a Hong Kong Disneyland trip that included Laforteza. Both traveled with their respective families.
Barretto also attended Laforteza’s 23rd birthday celebration in December and later showed support for her at Coachella in April, where KATSEYE performed.
