MANILA, Philippines –The Senate is considering a resolution to commend Bishop Pablo Virgilio David, also known as “Bishop Ambo,” for his appointment to the rank of cardinal.

Bishop Ambo is the tenth Filipino to become a cardinal since 1960.

Senator Risa Hontiveros drafted a resolution emphasizing Bishop Ambo’s contributions to the country’s religious and social landscape.

Born in Betis, Guagua, Pampanga, Bishop Ambo was ordained a priest in 1983.

He later became the Bishop of Kalookan in 2016.

His leadership extended beyond his diocese, as he became a vocal advocate for human rights and social justice.

He has consistently spoken out on various issues affecting the nation, aligning his views with the principles of compassion and faith.

Senator Hontiveros praised Bishop Ambo for his unwavering commitment to the people and his ability to inspire hope in difficult times.

She noted his theological contributions and his role as a beacon of courage, particularly during periods of social and political turmoil.

The senator urged her fellow lawmakers to adopt the resolution to formally acknowledge Bishop Ambo’s achievements and dedication.
