Manila, Philippines — In a distinguished ceremony held at Malacañan Palace, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. presented the Presidential Medal of Merit to four esteemed individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the arts, cinema, music, and cuisine of the Philippines. The awardees—Gloria Romero, Margarita Forés, Pilita Corrales, and Nora Aunor—were recognized for their exceptional influence in shaping the nation’s cultural identity and promoting Filipino heritage on a global scale.

Gloria Romero, hailed as the “Queen of Philippine Cinema,” has been an iconic figure in the film industry, earning numerous accolades for her extensive body of work. Margarita Forés, celebrated for her innovative fusion of Italian cuisine with Filipino flavors, was acknowledged for her culinary contributions. Pilita Corrales, known as “Asia’s Queen of Songs,” has left an enduring mark on the music scene with her remarkable achievements. Nora Aunor, a legendary actress, has been recognized for her extensive contributions to Philippine cinema and her induction into the FAMAS Hall of Fame.

The Presidential Medal of Merit is awarded to individuals whose achievements significantly enhance cultural and national pride.
