NEW YORK — Reports that singer Taylor Swift and NFL player Travis Kelce will marry at Madison Square Garden in early July remain unconfirmed, despite growing speculation fueled by media reports and public records.
Neither Swift nor Kelce has publicly announced wedding plans. The Associated Press said it sought comment from Swift’s representative but did not receive a response.
The New York Times, citing an entertainment industry executive and another person familiar with the plans, reported that the couple intends to hold a gathering for about 100 people at Madison Square Garden on July 2, followed by a larger event for about 1,000 guests on July 3.
The Associated Press said it could not independently verify those details.
Madison Square Garden has no public events scheduled from June 29 until a Bon Jovi concert on July 7.
Public records show New York City issued a permit for loading and unloading theatrical materials at the arena from June 29 to July 4. Records also show that Winick Productions applied for a permit to install a canopy or tent outside the venue for an event involving up to 999 people.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani referenced reports about the wedding during a recent press conference while discussing security preparations for the FIFA World Cup.
“We know it coincides with July Fourth, America 250, Taylor Swift’s wedding all happening at the same time, and we are so excited to welcome the world here,” Mamdani said.
He later added that he was not invited to the wedding and wished the couple well.
Madison Square Garden offers private event rentals and has hosted weddings in the past, including musician Sly Stone’s 1974 wedding and a mass wedding ceremony officiated by the Rev. Sun Myung Moon in 1982.
If the wedding proceeds, media reports have suggested family members and celebrity friends of the couple could attend. However, no guest list has been confirmed.
Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid declined to discuss whether he would attend when asked by The Associated Press earlier this month.
Swift has previously hosted Fourth of July celebrations at her Rhode Island home, while the reported timing would also fall during the NFL offseason.
As of writing, neither Swift nor Kelce has confirmed a wedding date, venue or guest list.
