MANILA, Philippines — Actress and television host Heart Evangelista was hospitalized after suffering from extreme exhaustion, her longtime live-in assistant said Saturday.

Resty Rosell shared photos on Instagram showing Evangelista in a hospital bed connected to medical equipment while receiving treatment. Her mother, Cecilia Ongpauco, and sister, Camille Ongpauco, were also at the hospital.

Rosell said Evangelista continued working until she could no longer do so before agreeing to be admitted.

“Sa sobrang hardworking ng batang ito, kailangan talaga umabot pa siya sa point na hindi na niya kaya before magpaconfine,” Rosell wrote in the caption of his post.

He also urged Evangelista to prioritize her health and defended her from online criticism.

“Health is wealth, Ganda, sana naisip mo ‘yan, rest-rest din kapag may time,” Rosell wrote. “Tapos itong mga lintek na bashers na ‘to kung husgahan ka grabe, hindi nila alam kung gaano ka kasipag para kumita lang ng pera.”

In a later Instagram post, Rosell said Evangelista had awakened from sedation and was showing signs of recovery.

“Road to full recovery and she’s awake na from sedation… Nakakalakad na siya now ng straight pero need pa din ng support,” he wrote.

Rosell did not disclose Evangelista’s medical condition.

The hospitalization came weeks after Evangelista said she was prioritizing her health following a fainting episode during Milan Fashion Week.

In an episode of Heart World Season 2, Evangelista said she lost consciousness after attending 14 fashion shows during the event.

Evangelista currently hosts GMA’s game show The People Have Spoken, her first television hosting project.

As of writing, Evangelista has not publicly commented on her hospitalization.
