LOS ANGELES, California– Kanye West, also known as Ye, has reached a tentative settlement in employment-related lawsuits filed by former employees of his Donda Academy.
The settlement involves two separate lawsuits, one filed by Isaiah Meadows, a former Assistant Principal, and another by ex-teachers Cecilia Hailey, Chekarey Byers, and Timanii Meeks.
Court documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court confirm a “conditional” resolution, with dismissals expected by March 31. The specifics of the settlement have not been disclosed.
Isaiah Meadows, who filed his lawsuit in July 2023, alleges that he was hired as assistant principal at Yeezy Christian Academy, which later became Donda Academy, in August 2020.
Meadows claims he raised multiple safety concerns, including a missing skylight that allowed rainwater to enter the building, creating a moldy odor.
He also highlighted exposed telephone and electrical wiring, including a hazardous electrical wire near where students ate.
Additionally, Meadows asserts that he had to personally cover $60,000 in rent for a home in Calabasas after Ye failed to honor promises to pay the rent.
The school transitioned to Donda Academy in August 2021, and Meadows continued as a teacher’s assistant and physical education teacher.
He claims he was abruptly terminated a year later, two weeks before the fall semester, without explanation.
In a separate lawsuit filed in April 2023, former teachers Hailey, Byers, and Meeks accused Donda Academy of unsafe working conditions and allowing bullying among students due to insufficient discipline.
Hailey and Byers also alleged that their wages were reduced, with discrepancies totaling approximately $1,800.
