Regine Velasquez has revealed plans for what she calls her final major solo concert, set to coincide with her 40th anniversary in the entertainment industry.
In an interview with Billboard Philippines, the “Asia’s Songbird” said the show is tentatively eyed for October, though details such as the date and venue have yet to be finalized.
“It’s going to be my last big concert to celebrate my 40th year. It’s going to be my last concert,” she said, clarifying that while she will still take on projects in 2027, the upcoming show will mark her final large-scale solo performance.
Velasquez explained that her decision to eventually step back is less about ending her career and more about redefining what work means to her. She shared that her husband, Ogie Alcasid, helped her see retirement as a way to ease pressure rather than completely stop working.
“I don’t have to completely stop. Retirement means you free yourself from the pressure of trying to please everyone,” she said.
The veteran singer also acknowledged changes in her voice as she has gotten older, noting that performing has become more physically demanding—a factor in her decision. Still, she emphasized that she has no plans to simply step away from public life, joking about possibly exploring new pursuits while continuing to stay active creatively.
Velasquez recently earned recognition as Woman of the Year at Billboard Philippines’ Women in Music event, where she encouraged fellow artists to keep dreaming and working hard—an ethos she continues to carry as she approaches this milestone chapter in her career.
