Houston airports are preparing for a record number of travelers during the upcoming spring break period.

The Houston Airport System projects approximately 2.3 million passengers will pass through George Bush Intercontinental and William P. Hobby Airport from March 6 to March 17, marking an all-time high for the region.

Jim Szczesniak, Director of Aviation for Houston Airports, stated that this spring break will be the busiest in the airports’ history.

He urged travelers to plan ahead, especially those picking up or dropping off passengers, and recommended arriving early due to anticipated heavy traffic.

Szczesniak emphasized the importance of allowing extra time to navigate the terminals.

He noted that airport staff would be on high alert to ensure a smooth experience for all passengers.

Airport officials also advised passengers to allow extra time for security checks and baggage handling.

Travelers are encouraged to check their flight status regularly and be prepared for possible delays.

Airlines are working closely with airport staff to minimize disruptions and ensure timely departures and arrivals.

Although Houston airports have experienced large crowds during past spring breaks, this year is set to exceed all previous records.

Local authorities are also preparing for the rise in visitors, with increased traffic affecting roadways, public transportation, and nearby hotels.

Local businesses and accommodations are preparing to meet the demand.

To handle the high volume, Houston airports have undergone facility upgrades aimed at reducing wait times and improving overall efficiency.

Szczesniak described these improvements as a “big win for travelers.”

The Houston Airport System is also conducting informational campaigns to help travelers navigate the airports during peak times.

Passengers are reminded to have their travel documents ready and to follow safety protocols.
