MANILA, Philippines — Jessica Sanchez said she is working on a Tagalog extended play while preparing for an upcoming concert, but declined to disclose details about the project during a press conference.
Sanchez said she plans to release more music following her album “Szn,” including a Tagalog EP that remains in development. She said she is learning the language with her daughter as part of her preparation and intends to collaborate with Filipino artists, including Sofronio Vasquez.
She said she continues to develop her songwriting skills and has been working on expressing personal experiences through her music.
Sanchez gained recognition for her performances on American Idol, including her rendition of “And I Am Telling You (I’m Not Going)” from the musical Dreamgirls, which she later performed with Jennifer Holliday.
Asked about a possible theater debut, Sanchez said she remains open to performing in musicals but has not committed to a specific production.
Sanchez is set to perform at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on May 16. The concert will feature guest appearances from Vice Ganda, Regine Velasquez, Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Morissette, James Reid and Darren Espanto.
