A Houston-based filmmaker has released a new Netflix docuseries titled “Sean Combs: The Reckoning,” a multi-episode examination of when and how music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs rose to prominence, who shaped his ascent, what events led to his legal and professional troubles, and how Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson helped bring the project to global streaming audiences.
Directed Alex Stapleton, the series features interviews with individuals who worked with, knew, or accused Combs, presenting their accounts of his conduct and influence in the entertainment industry. Stapleton outlines the project’s development process, which includes extensive research into Combs’ career, business ventures, and the allegations lodged against him.
Producers structured the docuseries to follow Combs’ trajectory—from his early years in the music business to his success at Bad Boy Records, and later expansion into fashion, television, and additional ventures. The episodes also explore how law enforcement investigations, civil litigation, and media reporting intersected with Combs’ public image and commercial empire.
Jackson serves as an executive producer and uses his media platforms to amplify the docuseries’ reach. Stapleton credits him with helping assemble the production team, secure resources, and support the editorial direction.
The production team conducted on-camera interviews, reviewed archival footage, and analyzed court filings and public documents to contextualize the claims and responses surrounding Combs. The series presents statements from accusers, legal representatives, and industry figures, noting when Combs or his representatives declined new interviews. It also incorporates Combs’ prior public comments where available.
Netflix now streams “Sean Combs: The Reckoning” in multiple regions. Stapleton says the project underwent legal review and fact-checking before release, and that all subjects were afforded an opportunity to address allegations appearing in the series.
