‘Gundam’ live-action film casts Sydney Sweeney, Noah Centineo

LOS ANGELES — Sydney Sweeney and Noah Centineo will star in the live-action adaptation of Gundam, streaming platform Netflix announced Tuesday, as production begins in Queensland, Australia.

Netflix confirmed the casting through its Tudum platform and said filming is underway. Jim Mickle will direct the project, which centers on a large-scale space conflict involving giant robots and follows characters navigating shifting allegiances amid a war that could determine humanity’s future.

The film also stars Jackson White, Shioli Kutsuna, Nonso Anozie, Michael Mando, Javon Walton, Oleksandr Rudynskyi, Ida Brooke, Gemma Chua-Tran and Jason Isaacs.

Netflix has not announced a release date.

Sweeney is known for her role in Euphoria and has also appeared in films such as Anyone But You. Centineo gained recognition for his role in To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and its spin-off XO, Kitty.
