MANILA, Philippines — Former “Goin’ Bulilit” actor Dagul appealed to his former showbiz colleagues for work as he deals with health problems and financial difficulties.
Dagul, whose real name is Romeo Pastrana, 66, discussed his condition and current circumstances in a recent interview on “Kay Susan Tayo! Vlogs” hosted by Susan Enriquez.
Pastrana said his health has improved compared with previous years when he frequently went to the hospital. He said he continues to deal with pulmonary problems and sleep apnea while doctors monitor his kidneys. He also said he now has difficulty walking without assistance.
His family’s financial situation has made it difficult for him to undergo needed medical tests, he said.
“Walang projects ngayon. Gusto ko rin nga magkaroon ng trabaho [para] sa mga bayarin namin pang-araw araw,” Pastrana said.
He also expressed concern about his inability to contribute financially to his family as its head.
Pastrana recalled his years on “Goin’ Bulilit” and expressed happiness over the careers of his former co-stars, including Julia Montes, Kathryn Bernardo, Belle Mariano and Kiray Celis.
He then appealed to his former colleagues for opportunities, saying he would accept any role.
“Sana mapansin niyo ako, kung may maitulong man kayong project. Kailangan ko ang tulong niyo,” Pastrana said.
“Kahit palamuti lang, kahit anong role tatanggapin ko,” he added.
Pastrana said he continues to rely on prayer as he seeks work and financial assistance for his family.
He also acknowledged several celebrities who have helped him, including Benjie Paras, Long Mejia and former Sen. Manny Pacquiao.
