SEOUL, South Korea — BTS has become the first pop group to surpass $500 million in cumulative ticket sales with its ongoing “Arirang” world tour, according to Billboard’s latest Boxscore figures released Wednesday, Sept. 30.

The South Korean septet became the seventh group overall to reach the milestone, with the other six groups being rock bands, Billboard reported.

Much of BTS’ ticket revenue came from its August performances. The group held 12 concerts during the month, attracting about 800,000 fans and generating $171.7 million in ticket sales, according to Billboard.

The August figures also placed BTS at No. 1 on Billboard’s monthly Top Tours chart for the fifth time.

Bad Bunny leads the chart with 10 No. 1 finishes, while Beyoncé, Coldplay and Elton John have each recorded seven.

BTS’ August ticket revenue also ranked as the second-highest monthly total in Billboard Boxscore history. Beyoncé holds the record with her August 2023 total.

The “Arirang” world tour began in South Korea in April and still has about 40 concerts scheduled.

Billboard projected that the tour could eventually generate $1 billion in cumulative revenue.
