DALLAS, Texas — Four individuals were hospitalized Tuesday afternoon following a shooting at Wilmer-Hutchins High School in Dallas, according to authorities.
The incident occurred shortly after 1 p.m., prompting a lockdown and large-scale emergency response to the campus.
Police confirmed that three people sustained gunshot wounds during the shooting. Among the injured is a 17-year-old suspect, though the extent of the suspect’s involvement remains under investigation.
The Dallas Police Department responded to reports of an active shooter at the high school. Officers arrived on scene and secured the building while paramedics provided immediate medical assistance to the injured.
All students and staff were safely evacuated, according to officials with the Dallas Independent School District (DISD).
The district suspended classes at Wilmer-Hutchins High School until further notice and pledged full cooperation with law enforcement agencies during the investigation.
The campus was placed on lockdown as investigators collected evidence and interviewed witnesses. Parents and guardians were notified shortly after the incident, and a district hotline was established to provide updates and support to affected families.
