The Dallas Wings are moving forward with major plans for both a new facility and a possible temporary home arena.
Team CEO Greg Bibb said the Dallas City Council voted 13-2 to allow the Wings to take over as the developer of a planned 70,000-square-foot practice facility at Joey Georgusis Park in Far West Oak Cliff. Construction is targeted to begin by the end of April, with the goal of completing the facility in time for the 2027 WNBA season.
Under the revised agreement, the city will contribute up to $57 million, while the Wings will handle construction and cover any additional costs. The team has already begun preliminary work, including hiring a construction manager and subcontractors.
At the same time, the Wings are in discussions with American Airlines Center about potentially playing the 2027 season there. No deal has been finalized, but the arena could serve as a temporary home while the team awaits renovations to Memorial Auditorium.
The Wings have already tested the venue, playing two games at the American Airlines Center in 2025 and scheduling three more there in 2026—signaling a possible transition as the franchise upgrades its facilities.
