MANILA, Philippines — Actress Angel Aquino said she is grateful for the positive and respectful response following her public comments about her sexuality, adding that the moment was not planned.

Aquino made the statement in response to questions about her past interview on Bilyonaryo TV, where she said she is attracted to women and can fall in love with them. She said the disclosure was spontaneous and not intended as a formal “coming out” announcement.

She said her personal relationships had long been visible to people around her even if she did not openly discuss them in public.

Aquino also said members of the media had treated her private life with restraint over the years and did not pressure her to publicly address it.

When she eventually spoke about it, she said she appreciated the public’s response.

Aquino said she remains open to projects involving LGBTQ+ or girls’ love themes but emphasized that she considers the material, director, and co-actors carefully due to the sensitivity of such stories.

She previously appeared in films with similar themes, including “Ang Huling Cha-Cha ni Anita” and the short film “Silig.”

In the same interview, Aquino also discussed her skincare routine, saying she attributes her appearance to genetics and early habits, including moisturizing since her teenage years.

She also said she continues to encourage consistent skincare practices such as moisturizing and using sun protection.

Aquino said she believes beauty extends beyond physical appearance and emphasized character and mindset as lasting qualities.
