The Department of Education (DepEd) in the Philippines announced the return of DepEd TV, its educational television platform, after difficulties experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The relaunch involves a partnership with the Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI) and Solar Pictures, Inc. The collaboration seeks to improve both the quality and accessibility of educational content for Filipino students.

DepEd TV, first launched during the pandemic, encountered operational problems that limited its reach and continuity. The new effort focuses on overcoming those challenges and improving how lessons are delivered through television.

KCFI will create educational content, while Solar Pictures will manage its distribution through media networks. Together, they aim to provide learning materials for students nationwide, especially those without access to regular classrooms.

DepEd highlighted the importance of using educational media to maintain learning during emergencies. The department plans to introduce new technologies and teaching methods to make lessons more engaging and effective.

Education Secretary Leonor Briones expressed optimism about the project, noting its potential to support students across different grade levels and subjects.

DepEd, KCFI, and Solar Pictures will work together to ensure that all programs align with the national curriculum and uphold educational standards. The initiative also includes teacher training to strengthen the quality of televised instruction.

DepEd TV will feature interactive segments to keep students engaged and reinforce their understanding. The department said lessons learned during the pandemic will guide the project’s design to create a more resilient education system.

DepEd aims to use this partnership to expand access to education, particularly for students in underserved and remote areas. The department also encourages public support in promoting DepEd TV as an essential learning tool.

The new programs are expected to air in the upcoming school year. DepEd assured families that the platform will continue to evolve based on feedback and evaluation.

Education officials and stakeholders view the revival of DepEd TV as a major step in strengthening distance learning in the country. The department remains committed to providing equal access to quality education and developing a sustainable model for educational broadcasting.

DepEd believes the renewed platform will play an important role in helping students recover from learning disruptions and adapt to the changing educational environment.
