AUSTIN, Texas — Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is on track for its busiest spring travel day ever Monday, with roughly 38,000 passengers expected to depart, airport officials said.

The milestone follows a four-day stretch of elevated travel volume, during which long TSA and baggage check lines persisted over the weekend. Officials reported that the morning security rush on Monday subsided around 7:30 a.m., and travelers can expect normal wait times for the remainder of the day.

Passengers are advised to arrive at least 2.5 hours before domestic departures.

Although Monday’s projected total falls short of the airport’s all-time single-day departure record of 45,048 passengers, officials described the volume as “exceptional” for a spring Monday. The busy travel period is expected to continue into Tuesday, with around 32,000 departures forecast.

Austin-Bergstrom is also navigating the surge amid a partial federal government shutdown, which may contribute to unexpected delays. Passengers are encouraged to monitor flight status and check with their airlines for updates.
