Sophie Nyweide, a former child actor, died at the age of 24 on April 14, 2025, in Vermont.

She was known for her performances in films such as “Mammoth,” “An Invisible Sign,” and “Noah.”

Nyweide began her acting career at the age of five.

She quickly became recognized for her talent, appearing alongside prominent actors such as Gael García Bernal and Michelle Williams in the drama “Mammoth” released in 2009. Other notable works included her roles in “An Invisible Sign” and the film “Noah.”

Born in Burlington, Vermont, Nyweide spent her life between Vermont and New York City. She pursued acting from an early age, displaying a passion for the craft that led her to prominent roles in the film industry.

Despite her early success, Nyweide faced personal struggles. According to an obituary published online, her family indicated that she had self-medicated to cope with trauma and shame, which ultimately resulted in her death. The obituary did not confirm an official cause of death.

Her passing was noted in an online obituary issued by her family. They have requested that donations be made to the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) in place of flowers. A memorial service is planned to honor her memory.
