MANILA, Philippines– The Philippine Air Force (PAF) announced that the flight data recorder from an FA-50 fighter jet that crashed in Bukidnon last week will be sent to the United States for analysis.
The device, crucial for understanding the circumstances of the accident, will undergo voice and data extraction by experts.
PAF spokesperson Colonel Ma. Consuelo Castillo confirmed that the flight data recorder had been secured by the investigating team.
The crash occurred during a routine flight operation in a mountainous region of Bukidnon, resulting in the tragic deaths of both pilots onboard.
Their identities have been released, and the PAF has extended condolences to their families.
Colonel Castillo emphasized the PAF’s commitment to safety, stating that understanding the root cause of the incident is essential in preventing future occurrences.
The results from the data analysis will guide any improvements in operational safety procedures for the air force.
The FA-50 jets, acquired from South Korea, are integral to the PAF’s modernization efforts and are used for both training and defense purposes
