Houston City Council member Edward Pollard has announced a rebranding initiative for District J in Southwest Houston, naming it “J City.”
This change accompanies the introduction of several programs aimed at addressing service gaps identified within the area.
Pollard declared that these initiatives are designed to enhance community life by offering services which he describes as more tailored and innovative compared to city-wide options.
The newly named “J City” serves over 200,000 residents, a population larger than many U.S. cities, including Waco and Midland.
Recognizing the district’s considerable size, Pollard emphasized the importance of customizing services to better meet the needs of local residents.
The council member announced a series of programs targeting issues such as crime, maintenance, beautification, and community support.
Pollard also introduced a “Good Neighbor” program specifically focused on assisting disabled seniors with home maintenance.
This program offers services such as home repairs and upkeep, helping those who may struggle to maintain their properties independently.
