HOUSTON — Zamboanga City Mayor Khymer Adan Olaso visited Houston and San Antonio from Sept. 16 to 17, 2026, for meetings and activities focused on local government cooperation, disaster response and community engagement.
The Philippine Consulate General in Houston hosted Olaso during his two-day visit, which included meetings with the Office of the Mayor of San Antonio and the Houston Mayor’s Office of Trade and International Affairs.
Olaso also visited San Antonio’s Emergency Operations Center and the World Heritage Center as part of the program.
He toured the disaster response training facility of the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service, or TEEX, to learn more about emergency preparedness and response training.
Olaso also met members of the Filipino community at the Philippine Consulate’s Mabini Hall in Houston.
He concluded his visit with a dinner gathering with Zamboangueños in Houston, where attendees spoke Chavacano throughout the evening.
