NEW YORK — Singer Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce married on Friday evening, July 3 (July 4 in the Philippines), during a private ceremony at Madison Square Garden, Swift’s publicist confirmed.
The ceremony took place before invited guests at the New York arena while fans gathered outside hoping to witness the event, which organizers largely kept from public view.
Swift’s brother served as her man of honor, while Kelce’s brother, Jason Kelce, served as best man. The couple did not have bridesmaids or groomsmen. Actor Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony.
Few details about the wedding were released before the event. However, a permit obtained earlier by The Associated Press, along with other sources, confirmed that Madison Square Garden would host the wedding during the July Fourth weekend.
Several celebrities attended the ceremony, including singer Camila Cabello; actors Hugh Grant, Ethan Hawke and Jason Sudeikis; model Karlie Kloss; NFL players Kareem Hunt, Cooper Kupp and JuJu Smith-Schuster; sports broadcaster Joe Buck; and author Jenny Han.
An Associated Press camera recorded a procession of black SUVs arriving at the venue as guests in formal attire entered the arena. Organizers concealed arrivals from public view using tents and temporary structures.
Guests stopped posting on social media after entering the venue following reports that organizers prohibited mobile phones inside the ceremony.
A city permit obtained by the AP indicated that the wedding celebration could continue until 4 a.m. Police also closed portions of nearby streets and sidewalks during the event.
Outside the arena, residents, tourists and fans gathered despite the road closures. Diana Warshavsky, a New York resident, said she came to Madison Square Garden to celebrate the couple’s wedding with other fans.
Swift, 36, and Kelce, 36, began dating in 2023. The marriage is the first for both.
Earlier this week, Swift and Kelce donated $26 million to 20 local and national charities across the United States. The recipients included organizations in Nashville, Tennessee; Los Angeles; Kansas City, Missouri; and New York, communities with ties to the couple.
