MANILA — Actress and vlogger Sachzna Laparan said she will not file a case against her former boyfriend, Mark Pascual, despite alleging that he owes her and her family P50 million.
Laparan made the statement during a media interview at her contract signing with an aesthetic and wellness brand on July 2 but asked reporters to withhold publication until after she released her own statement. She confirmed their breakup and disclosed the alleged debt in a Facebook post on July 4.
Laparan said she and Pascual had been separated for nearly two weeks, although she had considered ending their relationship for about a year.
She said infidelity did not cause their breakup, adding that financial issues led to the separation.
Laparan alleged that Pascual owed her P50 million but said she no longer intended to seek payment or pursue legal action.
“Mas mahal ang peace of mind ko kaysa sa P50M. Saka kasi kung wala naman maibayad, bakit ko pa sisingilin?” she said.
Asked if she planned to file a case, Laparan replied that she would not because she believed it would only require additional expenses without guaranteeing payment.
She said she learned about Pascual’s financial problems after people who dealt with him approached her, believing she knew about his transactions because they were in a relationship.
Laparan also said the situation affected her family, claiming they had also lent Pascual money.
She alleged that Pascual invested the money in cryptocurrency and stocks but lost the funds through unsuccessful trades.
In her July 4 Facebook statement, Laparan thanked Pascual for their three-year relationship and said she was forgiving the alleged P50 million debt to give him “a chance to start over.”
She also said she did not benefit from the investments made in Pascual’s name and was unaware of many of his financial decisions.
Pascual later issued his own statement on Facebook, acknowledging his financial difficulties and saying he has continued to repay people he owes.
He said he disclosed his financial problems two years ago and has been settling his obligations while borrowing money to meet other commitments.
Pascual also said he lost P150 million through cryptocurrency leverage trading.
He denied abandoning his financial obligations and echoed Laparan’s statement that she had no involvement in or benefit from his investment activities.
