LOS ANGELES — Veteran actor James Handy died after a stabbing at a residence in Los Angeles, and authorities have arrested the son of Handy’s girlfriend in connection with the killing, police said Thursday.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to a home in the Tarzana neighborhood on Wednesday morning after a 911 caller stated, “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.”
Police said officers found Handy, 81, unconscious in the front yard with a stab wound to the chest. Paramedics transported him to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities identified the suspect as Michael Gledhill, 44, the son of Handy’s girlfriend, who lived at the residence with his mother. Police said Gledhill approached officers at the scene and identified himself as the person they were seeking.
Gledhill was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder. Jail records show his bail was set at $2 million.
Investigators have not publicly disclosed a motive, and the case remains under investigation.
