INDIAN WELLS, California — World number one Aryna Sabalenka announced her engagement Tuesday night, one day before the start of the Indian Wells tournament.
The four-time Grand Slam champion from Belarus accepted a proposal from her boyfriend, Brazilian businessman Georgios Frangulis, in a ceremony surrounded by flowers and candles. Both posted videos of the moment on Instagram, with Sabalenka captioning hers “You & me, forever.”
Sabalenka, dressed casually in jeans and a white T-shirt, said she would have dressed up had she known about the proposal. She had hinted at a possible engagement in January after winning the Brisbane title, thanking Frangulis during the trophy presentation.
On Wednesday, Sabalenka shared a video on the WTA Instagram account showing her engagement ring as she arrived at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden with her new Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy, named Ash.
