HOUSTON — The Houston Police Department logged 1,252 incidents involving stolen tires, wheels and rims during the first six months of 2026, with 10 ZIP codes accounting for about 38% of reported motor vehicle parts and accessory thefts.
Records obtained through a public information request show HPD recorded 1,114 incidents classified as “Theft of Motor Vehicle Parts or Accessory” from Jan. 1 through June 30. Of those, 421 occurred in the 10 ZIP codes with the highest totals.
ZIP code 77077, which includes the Energy Corridor and nearby west Houston neighborhoods, recorded the most incidents with 61.
The 10 ZIP codes with the highest numbers of reported vehicle parts and accessory thefts were:
- 77077 — 61 incidents
- 77054 — 53 incidents
- 77042 — 49 incidents
- 77063 — 46 incidents
- 77008 — 41 incidents
- 77082 — 37 incidents
- 77079 — 36 incidents
- 77036 — 33 incidents
- 77339 — 33 incidents
- 77084 — 32 incidents
The areas represented in the list include parts of west Houston’s Energy Corridor, the Astrodome and NRG Park area, Westchase, southwest Houston, the Heights, Chinatown, Kingwood and Bear Creek.
HPD also recorded 28 incidents classified as “Motor Vehicle Theft” across 24 ZIP codes during the same period. Four ZIP codes tied for the highest number, with two reported thefts each: 77016, 77029, 77060 and 77092.
The department recorded 29 incidents classified as “Burglary, Breaking and Entering.”
ZIP code 77091, which includes Acres Homes and Highland Heights, recorded the most of those incidents with five. ZIP codes 77063 and 77082 each recorded two.
Houston residents have also reported incidents involving stolen tires and other vehicle parts in local neighborhood discussions.
The data covers incidents reported to HPD during the first half of 2026 and does not indicate how many vehicles or individual parts each incident involved.
