LOS ANGELES — The Voice Season 25 winner Sofronio Vasquez began recording his debut EP in August 2024 in Los Angeles. Coach Michael Bublé guided the project. Music veterans David Foster and Paul Anka supported the sessions.
A newly released episode of “Beyond The Voice” documented the early stages of the recording. The episode showed Vasquez working in the home studio of Grammy-nominated engineer Jorge Vivo. Cameras followed his first day in the studio.
Vasquez recorded a new version of the holiday song “My Grown-Up Christmas List.” The song marked the start of the EP sessions.
Bublé said the project serves as a launch for Vasquez’s recording career. He said the EP includes two Christmas songs. It also includes four songs Vasquez performed on The Voice. The project features one original song written by Bublé and one Christmas duet.
The episode showed Bublé directing Vasquez in the vocal booth. He discussed song choices, sequencing, and performance details during the sessions.
Bublé asked Vasquez to include Tagalog lyrics in one duet track. He said the decision reflects Vasquez’s Filipino background.
Vasquez said the sessions allowed him to work closely with artists he admired. He later shared the “Beyond The Voice” video on Facebook. He wrote that he felt “lucky” to record with Bublé, Foster, Anka, and other collaborators.
Foster appeared in the studio footage. He said Vasquez impressed him during their first collaboration on The Voice. He said Bublé’s mentorship continues to guide Vasquez as he moves into professional recording.
Anka also joined the sessions. He appeared during parts of the EP’s development. Producers did not release full track details or songwriting credits.
The recording sessions took place several weeks after Vasquez won The Voice. The episode showed how the team developed his first commercial project.
