SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs have introduced a new supporter section at the Frost Bank Center to energize home games and enhance the fan experience.

The initiative, inspired by European soccer fan culture, aims to create a louder and more engaging atmosphere during NBA games.

The team held open tryouts to fill the section, drawing fans who showed up in costumes and face paint to display their energy and dedication. Selected participants will be expected to lead chants and maintain a consistent presence throughout games.

The idea for the section was influenced in part by Spurs forward Victor Wembanyama, who expressed interest in bringing the passionate supporter culture he experienced in Europe to San Antonio.

“The energy in European arenas is something I’ve always appreciated,” Wembanyama said in a recent interview. “I wanted to help bring that same spirit here.”

Alongside the supporter section, the Spurs have continued to adjust their roster ahead of the upcoming season.

The team recently signed free-agent guard Isaiah Miller, who will join the squad in training camp. Miller, a standout for his defensive intensity, is expected to add depth to the backcourt.

The supporter section is part of the Spurs’ broader effort to revamp the game day experience and boost home-court advantage. Team officials said they hope the section will provide players with extra motivation and make the Frost Bank Center a more difficult venue for visiting teams.

The Spurs see the supporter section as a long-term feature and a key element of their fan culture moving forward.

The team has not yet announced how many fans were selected or whether the tryouts will become an annual event. However, officials confirmed the section will debut at the start of the 2025–2026 NBA season.
