Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Zootopia 2” has crossed $1 billion in worldwide ticket sales, making it the fastest PG-rated animated film to reach the milestone, Disney reported.

The sequel to the 2016 hit “Zootopia” achieved the record through combined earnings from North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America, with strong audience turnout driving expanded showtimes in multiple markets. Industry tracking services confirmed the film’s rapid ascent based on days in release and global revenue.

Disney executives cited the franchise’s established popularity and sustained family attendance as key factors in the film’s performance. Several international markets reported high repeat viewership, which boosted per-screen averages and accelerated the climb to $1 billion.

The studio implemented a global release strategy with staggered rollouts, dubbed and subtitled versions, and localized marketing campaigns. Cinema operators maintained screenings in premium large-format and 3D theaters, further contributing to ticket revenue.

“Zootopia 2” ranked at the top of weekend box office charts in multiple countries during its early weeks, signaling strong word-of-mouth and extended theatrical runs.
