BOSTON — Zac Brown Band gave all 37,000 fans at its sold-out Fenway Park concert a paid cruise vacation Sunday, marking the country group’s 15th consecutive sold-out show at the Boston ballpark.
Lead singer Zac Brown announced the giveaway during the Aug. 2 concert before the band performed “Same Boat,” a song from its 2021 album.
“Tonight we’re going to do something that even Jimmy would say is crazy. I’m buying every single person here a cruise for two people on the boat,” Brown told the crowd.
The giveaway covers cruises for two people for each attendee and has a total value of more than $40 million, according to a news release from the band. The band said the giveaway set a record for the largest in live entertainment history.
Fans can redeem the cruises on select Margaritaville at Sea sailings during the next year.
Christopher Ivy, chief executive officer of Margaritaville at Sea, said the company worked with Brown to arrange the giveaway as a way to recognize the band’s fans.
The Zac Brown Band is known for songs including “Chicken Fried,” “Knee Deep,” featuring Jimmy Buffett, and “Toes.”
The giveaway came during the band’s “Love & Fear” tour, which Margaritaville at Sea presents. The tour has included four cruise tickets at each concert, with selected fans receiving trips aboard the company’s “Beachcomber” live music venue at sea.
Brown helped curate the venue and received credit as a co-designer, according to the band’s release.
The Fenway Park concert marked the band’s 15th consecutive sold-out performance at the venue.
