Emerald Fennell’s bold reimagining of Wuthering Heights led the North American box office this weekend, earning an estimated $34.8 million in its first three days across 3,682 theaters. The Warner Bros. release attracted a predominantly female audience, with 76% of ticket buyers identifying as women, according to PostTrak polling. By the end of Monday’s Presidents Day holiday, the total is expected to reach $40 million.

Starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi as Catherine and Heathcliff, the romantic drama outperformed other new releases, including the animated GOAT and the heist thriller Crime 101. Its biggest single-day haul came on Saturday, Valentine’s Day, with $14 million. Internationally, Wuthering Heights is projected to earn an additional $42 million from 76 territories, giving the film a potential global debut of $82 million.

Despite mixed reviews—currently 63% on Rotten Tomatoes and a B CinemaScore—audiences flocked to theaters. “This was a solid if not record-breaking Presidents Day/Valentines weekend,” said Paul Dergarabedian of Comscore, noting the absence of a Marvel release.

Other box office highlights this weekend include:

  • 2nd: GOAT – $26M domestic, $15.6M international, A CinemaScore.
  • 3rd: Crime 101 – $15.1M domestic, B CinemaScore.
  • 4th: Send Help – $9M.
  • 5th: Solo Mio – $6.4M.

The weekend also marked a milestone for Walt Disney Studios, which became the first studio to surpass $1 billion globally in 2026, driven by Avatar: Fire and Ash and Zootopia 2.

Top 10 domestic box office (estimated Friday–Sunday):

  1. Wuthering Heights – $34.8M
  2. GOAT – $26M
  3. Crime 101 – $15.1M
  4. Send Help – $9M
  5. Solo Mio – $6.4M
  6. Zootopia 2 – $3.8M
  7. Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die – $3.6M
  8. Avatar: Fire and Ash – $3.3M
  9. Iron Lung – $3.1M
  10. Dracula – $3M

Wuthering Heights is set to expand to Japan and Vietnam on Feb. 27, and China on March 13.
