Vice Ganda criticizes high earners who fail to report to work

Comedian-host Vice Ganda used his platform on It’s Showtime to highlight a frustration many Filipinos can relate to: the gap between hard work and fair pay.

Speaking during Labor Day, he criticized the apparent imbalance where some people earn large salaries despite doing little to no work, while many ordinary workers struggle on minimum wage despite long hours and daily hardships like commuting and rising living costs.

He painted a stark contrast—workers putting in full days, enduring heat and expenses just to get by, versus others who “don’t even show up” yet receive high pay. His point wasn’t directed at a specific person, but it resonated widely, especially online where some netizens linked his remarks to figures like Ronald dela Rosa, who has reportedly been absent from Senate sessions for months.

Beyond criticism, Vice Ganda also acknowledged the resilience of Filipino workers, thanking them for keeping the economy afloat despite financial strain. He emphasized how rising prices—fuel, food, and basic goods—continue to outpace wage growth, making everyday budgeting increasingly difficult.

His message ultimately lands on a broader issue: economic inequality and accountability. Whether aimed at public officials or not, the underlying concern is clear—people expect fairness, especially when it comes to work, compensation, and responsibility.
