UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned Russia’s extensive drone and missile attack on Ukraine that occurred on Friday, injuring 23 people and causing significant damage in Kyiv.
The assault, described as the largest since the conflict began, targeted Kyiv and other regions.
Ukrainian air defense systems intercepted many incoming drones and missiles, but the attack still caused fires, explosions, and disruptions to power supplies. Emergency responders attended to the injured and worked to contain fires.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed military cooperation with U.S. President Donald Trump following the attack, focusing on strengthening Ukraine’s defenses.
The attack drew international condemnation, with calls for de-escalation and peaceful resolution. Russia has not issued an official response to the UN’s condemnation and continues its military operations.
The UN emphasized the need for an immediate ceasefire and renewed diplomatic efforts to end the conflict.
