CAIRO — The Rafah crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt has reopened, but only for a small number of people.
Authorities said Palestinian patients are now allowed to leave Gaza for medical treatment, while some stranded residents can return. Ambulances were seen waiting at the border to assist those who are sick or injured.
Access remains very limited, with only a small number of people permitted to cross each day, and strict security checks still in place. The crossing had been closed since late February due to the conflict linked to strikes on Iran.
Despite the reopening, travel is still tightly controlled, but the crossing remains an important route for medical care and family reunions for many Gazans.
