MANILA, Philippines– National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Nora Aunor was laid to rest with full military honors at noon on April 22, 2025, at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, following a state funeral that paid tribute to her enduring contributions to Philippine cinema and culture.

Aunor, 71, passed away from acute respiratory failure. Her casket, draped with the Philippine flag, was escorted by the Armed Forces of the Philippines to her final resting place.

The burial was attended by family members, including her children and grandchildren, as well as government officials, colleagues from the entertainment industry, and fans.

The ceremony included a formal funeral march and a state necrological service, marking her burial as a hero’s farewell in recognition of her legacy as a National Artist. Aunor joins other notable Filipinos interred at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

Best known for her performances in iconic films such as Himala, Bona, and T-Bird At Ako, Aunor’s career spanned decades and earned her acclaim both nationally and internationally. Her influence on the Philippine film and broadcast arts industry helped shape the landscape of local cinema.
