DALLAS, Texas–The Texas House Committee has issued a second subpoena for Robert Roberson, a death row inmate who was convicted in 2003 for the death of his two-year-old daughter.

The committee’s action follows accusations by House members that Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office impeded earlier attempts to obtain Roberson’s in-person testimony.

The Texas House Committee seeks Roberson’s testimony as part of its investigation into potential judicial errors in death penalty cases.

The committee’s focus includes assessing whether advances in medical understanding could affect past convictions.

Allegations against Paxton’s office suggest delays in facilitating Roberson’s appearance. House members claim these actions hindered the committee’s work, prompting the need for a second subpoena. The Attorney General’s office has not publicly addressed these accusations.
