COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Texas A&M University Staff Council raised more than $7,000 for the Texas A&M Staff Emergency Fund during its third annual Maroon and White Fun Run at Aggie Park this summer.
The fund provides financial assistance to university employees facing unexpected emergencies.
The event drew staff members and other participants who supported the fundraiser through registration, donations and participation.
“We are thrilled by the turnout and generosity from our Aggie Family,” said Maddie Pappoe, co-chair of the Maroon and White Fun Run. “There is nothing more rewarding than seeing our community rally around our staff and their families who hold this university together.”
Sponsors contributed donations, prizes and refreshments to support the event. They included the Texas A&M University Nareh K. Vashisht College of Medicine’s Rural Medicine Program, Texas A&M Division of Student Affairs, Basic Balance Nutrition, DM Leadership, Heart of Texas Goodwill Industries Inc., HotWorx College Station, PopStroke and Ubeo Business Services.
University Staff Council Chair Clint Patterson said the fundraiser helps provide direct assistance to employees experiencing financial hardships.
“Every dollar raised means all real help for staff members facing unexpected hardships,” Patterson said. “The fun run proves that when Aggies unite, we can take care of our own.”
The Staff Emergency Fund accepts donations throughout the year through the University Staff Council’s website.
