NEW YORK — Taylor Swift paid a $160,000 permit fee to New York City for her wedding to NFL player Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden this month, Mayor Zohran Mamdani said Friday.
Mamdani confirmed the payment while answering questions from reporters about whether Swift would reimburse the city for police overtime related to the event.
“Taylor Swift has paid already the cost of the permit that was lodged, which was over $160,000 for that event and for the response to that event,” Mamdani said.
Swift and Kelce held their wedding over two days in Manhattan. The ceremony drew hundreds of guests and prompted authorities to close streets around Madison Square Garden as police provided security.
City officials have not released the total cost of the event. Forbes estimated the wedding cost exceeded $20 million.
Before the ceremony, Swift and Kelce donated $26 million to several charities.
